Luck Favors Liu To Double

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Eric Bunch raised to 275,000 from the cutoff and Jeremy Liu shoved all in over the top of him from the button. Bunch called.

"I only looked at one," said Liu, tabling his hand.

Jeremy Liu: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Eric Bunch: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The one he looked at was the only one he would need as the flop came {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts} to give him trips. The turn {j-Hearts} and river {9-Spades} were safe and he secured the double. He pushed forward his stack and it was totaled to be 825,000, which Bunch paid off before the next hand got underway.

Viet Vo Eliminated in 5th Place ($74,955)

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Viet Vo
Viet Vo

Spencer Champlin raised to 225,000 from the cutoff, then called a three-bet shove from Viet Vo for 1.4 million in the big blind.

Viet Vo: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Spencer Champlin: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

"Queen!" Vo said before the flop, and the {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop granted his wish, giving him queens-up and a big lead.

"Deuce!" Vo said before the turn, but the {7-Hearts} turn instead brought Champlin a full house and left Vo's tournament life hanging by a thread.

"Queen!" Vo said again, but the {a-Diamonds} was too little, too late for Vo, and Champlin continued his domination of this final table.

Champlin Accumulates Half the Chips in Play

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Spencer Champlin
Spencer Champlin

Eric Bunch raised to 255,000 in the cutoff and Spencer Champlin defended his big blind. The two saw a flop of {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and both players checked.

The turn came {3-Diamonds} and Champlin checked again. Bunch bet 300,000. Champlin called, bringing the river {4-Diamonds}. Champlin checked again and Bunch put out a bet of 675,000. Champlin thought for about 30 seconds and announced a check-raise to 1.9 million. Bunch instantly called

Champlin tabled {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a wheel, prompting Bunch to muck. After stacking his chips, Bunch's stack now totals 16.65 million, over half the chips in play.

James Jewell Eliminated in 6th Place ($57,318)

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
James Jewell
James Jewell

Spencer Champlin was under the gun and raised to 225,000. James Jewell then found action on him in the hijack and he looked down at his stack. After a few moments, he announced he was all in. Action folded back to Champlin and he instantly announced a call.

James Jewell: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Spencer Champlin: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The table was astonished to see the two hands that were tabled.

"Just a setup hand," said Jewell, accepting his fate that the odds were against him with his tournament life at stake.

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to finish the hand and Jewell got up from his seat, shaking everybody's hand as the table exchanged mutual regards on a well-played tournament before heading to the payout desk.

Liu Gets Lucky to Chop

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Jeremy Liu jammed for 1.225 million in the hijack, and Eluterio Rodriguez called in the small blind.

Jeremy Liu: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Eluterio Rodriguez: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Rodriguez held on the {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop, but the {8-Clubs} turn gave Liu some chop outs, and sure enough, the {3-Clubs} fell on the river to give both players the same flush and a chop.

"Wow...how did that happen?" a bemused Rodriguez asked.

"I'm not even greedy, I didn't call for these!" Liu said with a grin while gesturing at his king-jack.

Kris Burchfield
Kris Burchfield

"All in!" Kris Bruchfield said with a grin, plopping his last 305,000 in the pot from the cutoff.

"Don't do it!" Burchfield told Spencer Champlin, who was in the big blind. Champlin did it, however, and called.

Kris Burchfield: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Spencer Champlin: {j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Burchfield paired up on the {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, but Champlin added a gutshot to his overcard on the {7-Spades} turn. The table gasped as the {8-Spades} hit the river to fill Champlin's straight, and the charismatic Burchfield wished the table luck before heading to the payout desk.

Rodriguez Picks Off Liu

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Eluterio Rodriguez was in the hijack and opened to 275,000. Action folded around to Jeremy Liu, who defended his big blind.

The flop fell {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. Liu checked to Rodriguez, who made a continuation-bet of 355,000. Liu called and the turn came {4-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

The river was {q-Clubs} and Liu studied Rodriguez before announcing a bet of 450,000. He threw out 50,000 and then slid out the remaining 400,000. By the time he had finished sliding his chips forward, Rodriguez had called.

Liu showed {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a busted flush draw and Rodriguez tabled {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for kings and deuces, good to take the pot and vault him near the 5 million-chip mark.

Jewell Under A Million

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

James Jewell was in the small blind and saw action folded to him. He completed and Eluterio Rodriguez checked his option, taking the two heads up to a flop of {4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Jewell checked and Rodriguez bet 175,000. Jewell called. Both players checked the turn {3-Diamonds}.

Jewell checked again on the river {4-Diamonds}. Rodriguez announced he was all in and Jewell folded.

After the pot was sent Rodriguez' way, Jewell found himself with under a million in chips, currently making him the second-shortest stack at the table.

Vo Doubles Through Bunch

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Eric Bunch raised to 500,000 on the button, and Kris Burchfield folded his small blind.

"This might be it...like, eighty percent." Viet Vo said in the big blind. He eventually pushed his last 660,000 in the pot, and Bunch called.

Viet Vo: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}
Eric Bunch: {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Vo increased his lead on the {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} flop with a pair and a flush draw, and Bunch couldn't catch up on the {10-Clubs} turn and {a-Hearts} river.

Bunch Gets Three Streets

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Eric Bunch raised to 200,000 from under the gun and saw action fold around to James Jewell, who called out of the small blind. The flop came {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Jewell checked to Bunch, who fired out a 300,000-chip continuation-bet. Jewell called.

The turn was {6-Diamonds}. Jewell checked and Bunch continued, betting another 500,000. Jewell called.

The river fell {q-Clubs} and Jewell checked once more. Bunch fired a third barrel for 575,000, sending Jewell into the tank. Eventually, he threw out 75,000 to signify a call.

Bunch tabled {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for what had been top pair, top kicker until the river, where it became second pair. Jewell looked back at his hand, showed a couple of people at the table, and mucked it, sliding forward the remaining 500,000 he owed to make the pot right before it was shipped Bunch's way.
