Ma Runs Into Aces

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The action folded around to the button who made it 3,000 to go. Steve Ma was in the small blind and shipped all in for his remaining 22,100. The big blind looked down at his cards and re-shoved all in over the top. The button thought for a minute but elected to fold his pocket tens face up.

Ma rolled over {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} but it was no match for the big blind's {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. The board ran out {j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} and Ma was sent to the rail just shortly after late registration had closed.

Keeline Slow Plays Aces

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Ben Keeline
Ben Keeline

Anthony Spinella raised it up to 2,500 from middle position and Ben Keeline just called directly to his left. That invited three more players to join the action including both of the blinds.

The dealer spread the flop of {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and the action checked around to the {7-Clubs} as Spinella had a laugh about the lack of respect he was given preflop. The small blind chose to lead out for 4,100 and Keeline was the only player to call.

The river brought the {6-Spades} and the small blind checked this time. Keeline tossed in a bet of 6,500 and his opponent paid him off. Keeline tabled {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and his opponent sent his cards to the muck.

Packed house on Day 1b at WinStar River Poker Series

With the end of the break, registration for this event has come to a close. After two starting flights here at WinStar River Poker Series $2,500 Main Event, 807 entries have been logged — 378 on Day 1a and 429 here on Day 1b. That means the tournament did come up slightly shy of the $2 million guarantee, so those who still have chips can enjoy the prospect of some overlay.

According to the tournament staff, payout information will likely not be available until Day 2.

Two Flips Doom Reading

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A player shoved all in from middle position for just under 21,000, and John Reading tank-called in the big blind for most of his chips.

John Reading: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {5-}{5-}

The {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop was fairly promising for Reading since he had numerous outs with overs and a gutter, but the {7-Hearts} and {3-Hearts} missed him.

The next hand, the same player opened for a raise and called Reading's jam for about 7,000. Reading had {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} this time and was flipping once more against {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. Once more, the bracelet winner was left wanting on the {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} runout.

Aces Flying Around the Room

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

DJ Alexander opened to 2,800 from middle position but was three-bet to 7,200 just a couple of seats over. The action folded back to Alexander who made the call to see a flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

Alexander checked to his opponent who bet 8,300 and Alexander called. He also check-called another 8,700 on the {4-Clubs} turn card and the {j-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Alexander checked again and his opponent checked back, turning over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Alexander was unable to beat the pocket aces as he saw a good portion of his stack move across the table.

Keating Tests the Field

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 300 ante

Six players saw a {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop and the blinds checked to Alex Keating, who bet 7,000 in early position, which looked to be about half the size of the pot. A player in the cutoff made it 14,000. Patrick Eskandar tanked awhile and folded on the button, the blinds followed suit and Keating quickly released.
