We saw 2013 Irish Open champion Ian Simpson on the rail, reason enough for us to believe he had been eliminated. He was still all smiles, but confirmed our "read" that he was out.
Simpson was knocked down to just 1,300 after getting cold decked with versus on a 3-club board. He battled back to a playable stack, but lost all of his chips when he four-bet all in against a squeeze on a table full of 3-bets. This time around his opponent had a real hand with , and that hand held up.
"Sad face" Simpson said, though his actual face was far from looking down. "Side events, cash, drinks!" said Simpson with a big smile, "It's Malta!"
