Daniel Chutrov Takes Big Chip Lead Into the Final Day
The main story on Day 1a was that of Daniel Chutrov turning his 30,000 starting stack into 539,500 chips over the course of nine hours. Today, Day 2 of the 2015 Unibet Open Glasgow Main Event, Chutrov was once again in the headlines for all the right reasons and bagged up 2,024,000 chips at the close of play.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for the young Bulgarian because he saw his stack dwindle during the early levels, which saw him hover around the average stack. But, and it’s a big but, Chutrov’s Day 1a run-good came back to him in the final few levels and he bulldozed his way to the top of the chip counts.
Chutrov was the first player to break through the one-million chip barrier after he eliminated Sweden’s Dennis Lindmark from the tournament during the 17th level of play. Chutrov opened to 25,000 from under the gun at the 6,000/12,000/2,000 level and the action passed to Lindmark in the cutoff. Lindmark then three-bet all-in for 336,000 and Chutrov called.
Lindmark flipped over the and, as expected, the hot-running Chutrov turned over a superior hand in the shape of the . A board kept Chutrov’s hand best and he soared to 1.1 million in chips.
From that point on, Chutrov started to turn the screw to pull out to a mammoth chip lead. To put that lead into perspective, Chutrov’s nearest rival has 903,000 chips, which is less than half of his total.

The unfortunate bubble was Lithuania’s Matas Levanas who pushed all-in for seven-and-a-half big blinds with and was looked up by Herman Hjalm and his . The ace-queen improved to two pair on the flop and then an unbeatable full house on the turn to bust Levanas in 25th place and put everyone else into the money.
Play resumes at 12:00 p.m. BST (not 11:00 a.m. as previously advertised) and continues until one man has won each of the 6,630,000 chips in play. Whoever does that becomes the 2015 Unibet Open Glasgow champion and leaves the iconic Celtic Park venue with £43,000 in their back pocket.
