Abalasei Survives With an Unlikely Chop
The action was picked up with Anthony Field having 1,600 chips in front of him preflop from middle position, and Abraham Gozum called in the hijack. Alexandru-Andrei Abalasei then three-bet the cutoff to 3,600, which both Field and Gozum called.
They went to a flop of 3♦6♥2♦ where it checked to Abalasei, who fired 4,000. Field folded, and Gozum called.
On the 5♣ turn, Gozum checked and Abalasei bet 10,000. Gozum shoved for around 20,000, and Abalasei reluctantly tossed in the call.
Abraham Gozum: 4♣4♠
Alexandru-Andrei Abalasei: Q♠Q♣
Abalasei was drawing slim to a chop as Gozum had turned a straight, but sometimes in poker, it's only a slim chance that you need as the 4♦ rolled off on the river, which put a straight on board.
Abalasei was pleased to get his chips back, Gozum...probably not so much.
