Huge Pot for Steven
A compelling hand just played out between Brandon Steven and Mark Teltscher. It was Steven who opened the action, raising it up to 60,000 from under-the-gun, Teltscher three-bet to 150,000 on the button, Steven four-bet to 287,000 and, after confirmation on the raise size, Teltscher stuck around.
So there was already over 600,000 in the pot by the time the dealer fanned a flop on the felt. Fairly quickly Steven bet 150,000 but there was nothing immediate about Teltscher's actions. He thought for some time, reached deep and raised to 475,000 total. This time, it was Steven who needed a count and after he'd received one he put in the extra chips required.
That took the two players to a turn card, where there would be more betting. Teltscher retained the betting lead, he bet 600,000 into the 1,550,000 pot and Steven again smooth called. This pot was getting serious and the river not only completed the flush draw but for good measure, it paired the board.
Steven quickly checked, but again Teltscher was very considered in his actions which is hardly surprising given the scale of the pot and the tournament. He concluded by betting a cool 1,000,000. Steven sighed and looked at the board and his own chips before electing to call.
Teltscher opened and shot out of his chair to see what Steven had, the latter could beat it as he showed for a turned straight and Teltscher looked to the heavens as he realized he'd lost a huge pot. He's lost around half his stack while Steven is up to over 8,000,000.
"That was a horrible river card for both of us," said Steven to Teltscher. "Nice hand Brandon, maybe I should check," wondered Teltscher. "I think you played it perfectly," replied Steven.
The next hand the two butted heads again, Teltscher raised to 60,000, Steven three-bet out of the big blind and said to Teltscher. "Let it go," the Brit paused a few beats and then replied. "Do you show me if I let it go?" Steven replied that he would and good to his word he turned over after Teltscher had mucked.
