Spaulding Keeps Stacking

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Happy Spaulding opened to 6,000 in early position, and got a call from an opponent in the small blind.

Both players checked the {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. The small blind bet 6,000 on the {4-Hearts} turn, Spaulding min-raised to 12,000, and the small blind folded.

Huynh Sends Two to the Exit

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

An early position player shoved for 26,000, Darren Beason re-shoved for 49,000, and Dantram Huynh called from the big blind, with both opponents covered.

Early Position: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Darren Beason: {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Dantram Huynh: {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Board: {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Huynh's pair of nines on the river ended Day 1a for both opponents, while putting her stack up to the 200k mark.

Huynh Scores Another Knockout

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Adrianne Hall opened to 12,000 from the hijack, the cutoff went all-in for 40,000, and Dantram Huynh cold called in the big blind. Hall called.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and Huynh went all-in for 172,000. Hall went deep into the tank, thinking for several minutes before folding.

Dantram Huynh: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Cutoff: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The turn and river were inconsequential, and Huynh now has one of the top stacks in the room as the final level of the night approaches. Hall said she folded pocket kings, and in any case preserved her 200,000 chips with the fold.

Segni Surging

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Dantram Huynh and Ronald Segni got all of the chips in on a {2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop. Segni was covered going to the turn and river.

Ronald Segni: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Dantram Huynh: {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

The turn {8-Hearts} and {5-Diamonds} changed nothing, and Segni now sits on a 300k stack as Day 1a plays through the final level.

The first of three Day 1 flights played to its completion in the MSPT $360 Regional at Sycuan Casino Thursday night. The opening event in the MSPT United States Poker Championship drew 104 entries to Sycuan Casino in San Diego, CA on Day 1a.

By night's end, 13 players survived and advanced to Day 2. Those players will return Sunday to compete against the survivors of Day 1b (Friday at 5 p.m.) and Day 1c (Saturday at 2 p.m.)

Dantram Huynh (502,000) emerged as the Day 1a chip leader, followed by Tai Reyes Purpero (353,000), Richard Lanes (291,000), and Rod Danger (291,000).

Other players bagging Day 1a included Adrianne Hall (247,000), Ronald Segni (220,000) and Igor Keselman (196,000).

Among the name not making it through Day 1a included Benjamin Moon, who saw his night end at the end of a two pair versus flush cooler. The former WSOP bracelet winner still has the opportunity to advance to Day 2, however, as players have unlimited re-entry through Level 13 of all Day 1 flights.

Day 1b commences Friday at 5 p.m. All Day 1 phases are scheduled to play through 15 half-hour levels, or until 12 percent of the field remains.

The $100,000 guaranteed tournament continues throughout the weekend. Stay here with the PokerNews live reporting blog for comprehensive coverage of the $360 Regional, which is slated to crown a champion on Sunday.
