Erickson Folds to the Check-Raise

Level 32 : 125,000/250,000, 40,000 ante

Jim Erickson opened to 550,000 on the button and Timothy Gundrum defended his big blind. Both players checked the flop {q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades}. The turn came {8-Diamonds} and Gundrum checked again. Erickson fired a delayed continuation-bet of 550,000 and Gundrum slid in a check-raise to 1.2 million.

Erickson took about five seconds and then let his hand go, earning Gundrum the pot.

Stephen Torre Eliminated in 4th Place ($58,412)

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
Stephen Torre
Stephen Torre

Stephen Torre open-jammed for 1.9 million in the small blind and Jim Erickson was waiting for him in the big blind.

Stephen Torre: {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Jim Erickson: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

After Torre had doubled once, he ran his weak ace into a pair of cowboys and found nothing more than a trey on a runout of {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Spades} to fall in fourth.

Gundrum Gets a Huge Double

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Wesley Cannon raised to 425,000 in the cutoff and Timothy Gundrum three-bet to 1 million on the button. Stephen Torre cold four-bet all in and then Cannon folded, sending action back to Gundrum.

"Call," announced Gundrum after close to a minute in the tank.

Timothy Gundrum: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Stephen Torre: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Gundrum's jacks remained best, making a full house on the runout {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades} to earn the double and leave Torre with just 725,000 behind.

Torre then doubled through Jim Erickson to get back to nearly 2 million when his {a-Spades}{8-Spades} held versus {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

Cannon Chips Up Some More

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Wesley Cannon opened to 425,000 in the cutoff and Timothy Gundrum called on the button. Jim Erickson also came along in the big blind and the three players saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

Erickson led out for 525,000 and Cannon called, prompting a fold from Gundrum to take action heads up to the turn {k-Spades}. Erickson tapped the felt, sending action over to Cannon who took close to a minute before putting out a bet of 1.2 million.

Erickson asked for confirmation of the amount and then set it aside from the rest of his stack. He thought for a few moments more and then slid his cards forward across the felt to give up contention of the hand.

Mike Estes Eliminated in 5th Place ($44,034)

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
Mike Estes
Mike Estes

On the first hand back from break, Jim Erickson opened to 450,000 on the button and Wesley Cannon re-jammed for 4.445 million. Mike Estes called all in for less and Erickson folded, remarking that he would have called one shove but could not call both all-in bets.

Mike Estes: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Wesley Cannon: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

It was a classic coin-flip situation with Estes needing to hold to stay alive, but instead two aces fell on the flop of a runout {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Hearts} to give Cannon trip aces and knock out Estes in fifth for a payday of $44,034.
