Aaron Raap Leads the Pack in Day 1a of MSPT Deadwood Shootout
210 entries filled the poker room at the Silverado-Franklin Hotel and Gaming Complex in Deadwood, South Dakota for the event’s opening flight, with the final 26 finding a bag after completing Level 15. Leading the pack is Aaron Raap of Jamestown, North Dakota, who surged to the top of the counts after several massive hands in a row and bagged a whopping 570,000.
Bagging in second was Joshua Reichard (418,000), third went to Josh Evans(410,000), in fourth was Tom Smith (343,000), and rounding out the top five was Justin Barnum (309,000).

Those who bagged tonight will return on Sunday, October 23 for Day 2. There they will combine with the runners of Flight B and will battle it out until a winner is crowned.
Among those falling short of advancing were MSPT Hall of Famer Matt Kirby, who busted just short of advancing, MSPT Hall of Famer Aaron Johnson, multiple bracelet-winner Adam Friedman, and the current Deadwood Champion Gerald Cunniff. They’ll all have the chance to return Saturday at 3 p.m. local time for Day 1b, which is expected to surpass Friday’s already huge field.
