While PokerNews is covering the $1,110 Main Event, several players took down preliminary events throughout the Showdown Series at Sycuan Casino Resort.

A total of 59 runners turned out to compete in Event #3: $250 Pot-Limit Omaha and it was local tournament veteran Rip Fritzer who walked away with the trophy and the $4,424 top prize. Fritzer defeated Brian Nordin of San Diego heads-up. Other players finishing in the money were Stanley Solis, Tai Purpero, Mark Birdsall, and David Para.

Steve Wendroff called the PokerNews team over to his table to update his growing legion of fans around the world.

Wendroff's stack had swelled to over 800,000 and had just sent Jeremy Clemons to the rail.

Clemons had {a-}{q-} and Wendroff had {a-}{a-}. The board ran out with no help for Clemons and he was out of the tournament while Wendroff jumped back near the top of the leaderboard.
