Aaron Massey Leads Final Flight of MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event
The field has been set for Day 2 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Venetian $1,100 Main Event after Day 1c pulled together 631 total entries, bringing the overall total up to 1,341.
Day 1c was the largest field of the three starting flights and by the end of the night, it was Illinois native Aaron Massey who put the most chips in a bag (608,000). Massey was accumulating chips throughout the tournament but he catapulted into the top spot at the end of the night.
Others to bag large in Day 1c were Stefan Fabian (516,000), Levy Tzur (498,000), Gediminas Uselis (468,000), and Sundiata DeVore (417,000).
Just below them are three more formidable opponents in Brock Wilson (394,000), Minnesota's Ian Matakis (326,000), and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Barry Shulman (216,00).
Others were not as fortunate. Camille Brown, Shannon Shorr, MSPT Season 10 Player of the Year Mike Shin, Cherish Andrews, and Alex Foxen were just a few players who came short.
The surviving players will be returning Thursday's for Day 2’s 11 a.m. start time, and 135 of them will make it into the money to earn a first-level payout of $3,440, though players are sure to have their eyes set on the first-place prize of $325,428.
PokerNews will be back on hand for tomorrow for Day 2, so make sure to come back and see who makes it through to the final day!
