Josh Bobrosky Leads 34 Survivors After Day 1a of MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event
Day 1a of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Venetian $1,600 Main Event is officially in the books with 275 total entries tallied by night's end.
A full 15 levels were played to completion and when play ended, it was Josh Bobrosky with his stack of 675,000 leading the charge.
Bobrosky was seen stacking chips throughout the day and he never lost steam, gradually gathering chips to end the first starting flight on top of the chip counts.
The race for the top spot was a close one to the finish as Jeff Hill was another player seen throughout the day building a healthy stack but had to settle for second with 513,000.
Rounding out the top five are three other players who finished the day north of 400,000: Rob Wazwaz (474,000), Andrew Rogers (468,000), and Jarod Minghini (420,000).
The field saw some of pokers top pros in action and some others to advance through to Day 2 included MSPT Venetian Champ Landon Tice (380,000), Anton Wigg (359,000), Asher Conniff (340,000), and WSOP bracelet winner Zhi Wu (304,000).
Of course, not everyone was fortunate enough to make it through the night. Among those to fire and fall in Monday’s flight were Alex Foxen, Thomas Boivin, MSPT Hall of Famer's Kou Vang, and Rich Alsup, along with MSPT Champion Chris Moon, were just a few who took their shot at a bag on Day 1a only to come up short. All who have yet to advance will have two more starting flights for further attempts.
Day 1b will get underway at 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19th. Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 9 (approximately 6:40 p.m.). PokerNews will be on hand to capture all the action, so be sure to join us then!
