Johnson Doubles Through Harris

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Aaron Johnson
Aaron Johnson

Aaron Johnson opened for 13,000, and Lance Harris three-bet from the button. Action folded back to Johnson, who moved all in for 112,000 after about 30 seconds. Harris snap-called with {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}, dominating Johnson's {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. A {3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop was safe for Harris. The {j-Spades} turn, however, was anything but, and Johnson filled up on the {3-Diamonds} river.

"Nice hand, Aaron," Harris said.

Johnson just shook his head and accepted the chips.

Kirby Scoops a Big One, Doesn't Show Down

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Matt Kirby
Matt Kirby

Matt Kirby put in what looked to be a three-bet to 38,000 from the big blind and got action from the player on the button, Chris Keller. Kirby bet 30,000 on the {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop, and Keller thought for a couple of minutes before opting to call. Kirby pushed all in for roughly 75,000 on the {k-Spades} turn, and Keller thought awhile again before this time sliding his cards to the dealer.

Streese Outruns Devericks

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Trevis Devericks
Trevis Devericks

Trevis Devericks moved all in under the gun, and John Streese announced a call in middle position. Everyone else folded quickly.

Devericks: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Streese: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The race was on and Streese called for red cards. He got two and the suit he was looking for as the flop came {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. The {4-Diamonds} was a red brick, but the {k-Spades} gave Streese a winning pair.

"Good hand," a disappointed Devericks said.

Curl Pulling Ahead

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Alan Curl came in with the chip lead on Day 2, but the pack caught up to him and he was in a jumble near the top during the first level of the day. Now, however, he has shot back up to the lead, racing ahead of the pack to a stack of more than 400,000.

In one recent pot, two players limped and Curl made it 18,000 to go. They both called, and everyone checked the {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}. On the {j-Hearts} turn, Curl bet 25,000 after two checks and took the pot down.

Harris Snaps Off Johnson

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Aaron Johnson opened for 8,500 in middle position and got one call from Lance Harris, who had the button. Johnson slowed down with a check on the {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} flop, and Harris bet 8,500. Johnson called, and both checked the {7-Spades}. Johnson bet what looked like 26,500 on the {k-Diamonds} river, and Harris quickly tossed in calling chips.

Johnson flipped {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} but Harris had that beat with {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.
