After 14 levels of play here on Day 1a, 23 players have made their way through to Day 2. Entries closed following the break after the end of level nine and the number stood at 122 for the first of three flights.
Of the 23 remaining, Alex Barill leads the way, stacked at 245,000. Nate Runkel finished second in chips and bagged up 226,500. Adam Friedman (203,000) and defending champ Jason Zarlenga (186,500) are close behind.
Notables that entered but failed to advance thus far, included Nick Guagenti, Scott Hammert, Adam Lamphere, Aaron Steury and Dash Dudley.
Two more day one flights will take place, as 14 levels will be played each day on Friday and Saturday. The tournament is sure to draw big numbers and easily exceed its $200,000 guarantee.

Alex Barill opened to 4,000 and was met with a three-bet all in for around 30,000. Barill made the call and tabled versus the of his opponent. That is where the fun began.
The flop of gave Barill a set, but left his opponent drawing to the nut flush and an inside straight draw. The on the turn completed the flush, but Barill found the fourth ten on the river and sent his opponent to the rail, vaulting him at or toward the chip lead.

Bill Uminn limped from middle position, as did the player in the cutoff. Steve Maniaci raised to 8,000 from the button and Uminn and the other opponent both called. The flop was and action checked to Maniaci who continued for 11,500. Uminn moved all in for 28,700.
Maniaci did some math before reluctantly throwing out chips for the call. It was bad news though, as Maniaci could only hope for a chip with his far trailing the of Uminn. The board completed and Maniaci's stack took a hit.

The players are on a 10-minute break and will then come back to play two more levels before calling it a night.
Dash Dudley's stack has been dwindling over the last couple of levels and he open-shoved all in from the hijack for 17,800 and Darren Rice called for less from the button. Rod Derrow thought for a moment in the big blind but eventually folded.
