Breakneck Pace

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Even by Mid-States Poker Tour standards, the chips are flying fast here in Baton Rouge. We've lost nearly half of the field in the first level and a half.

Vang Takes a Beat, Still Gaining Chips

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

According to Kou Vang, he just got all in with {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} in a three-bet pot after a {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop. Seville Hale had shoved on his 19,900 continuation-bet, and Vang made the call. Hale had flopped a flush draw with {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, and he got there on the turn with the {5-Diamonds}. The {9-Spades} river was no help to Vang.

Vang's still well above where he started the day despite the beat.

Brown Turns Nuts to Bust Shorty

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Darius Brown turned his flush.
Darius Brown turned his flush.

A player put his last 12,400 in the middle from under the gun at Table 1, and action folded to the blinds, where Darius Brown and Mihail Karasoulis called.

After the {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, Brown bet 15,000 into the dry side pot, and Karasoulis folded {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} face up.

Brown: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Under the gun: {q-}{j-}

Brown had flopped bottom pair with a flush draw, and he turned the nut flush with the arrival of the {3-Spades}. A {9-Hearts} completed the board.

Annonson Still Climbing

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Tom Annonson opened for 4,700 under the gun, and action folded to the big blind, who pushed all in for about 70,000. After thinking it over for a minute or two, Annonson called.

Annonson: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Big blind: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Annonson was behind, but he quickly turned the tables when the flop came {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. An {8-Diamonds} and {6-Spades} finished out the board, and the big blind shook Annonson's hand before making his way out.

Jeff Grimes took a beat and busted out.

According to Jeff Grimes, Austin Bursavich put him all in after a {9-}{4-}{3-} flop with {j-}{9-}, only to see he was behind the {q-}{q-} of Grimes. Bursavich nailed a {j-} on the turn for top two though, and Grimes couldn't catch up on the river.

Claudia Crawford is down to a few big blinds.
Claudia Crawford is down to a few big blinds.

We didn't see hand, only the aftermath, but Claudia Crawford just shipped the majority of her chips to an opponent who had {q-}{10-} on a board of {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

A few hands later, she shoved and was called by Darius Brown on the button.

Brown: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Crawford: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

The runout came {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, providing no help to Crawford.
