Action of the Day
All the excitement of the day was based around the battle between GGPoker ambassadors Niall Farrell and Lukas Robinson, where their teams of freeroll qualifiers battled to be the last man standing.
However captain Farrell would let his team down as he was eliminated after only one hour of play as his pocket queens lost against pocket kings.
After that Team Robin was firmly in the lead as members of Team Firaldo started to drop. However, members of Team Robin bowed out later in the day as the numbers evened out.
Notables such as Will Kassouf and Jessica Pilkington were in the field but will have to return tomorrow if they want to get their hand on some of the £500,000 guaranteed prizepool as both failed to bag along with Farrell.
Mohammed Ghani coolered Fabian Donovan early in the day as Donovan rivered trips while Ghani rivered a full house to win a huge pot early in the day. However, Ghani would drop right at the end of the day at the hands of Obadun's pocket jacks.
Nick McLennan ran hot towards the end of the day as he took out two in back-to-back hands, including the elimination of Anastasi Vasilou as McLennan turned a straight against Vasilou's top set.
The final members of Team Firaldo and Team Robin were Gurvinder Shergill and Lukas Robinson who were both short on the bubble but they would both bag as Winston Jones would be the bubble boy when he shoved king queen from the small blind only to run into James Langston's pocket kings.
The elimination of Winston Jones brought the days proceeding to an end as the remaining 42 players will join the 32 players from Day 1a as well as the survivors from the online flights for Day 2 on Monday 16th January at 12 p.m. local time.
Stayed tuned tomorrow to PokerNews for Day 1c as players will have their last chance to try and make it to Day 2. Cards will be in the air from 12 p.m. local time. PokerNews will give all the updates until a champion is crowned.
