Day 1a of the 2018 Western New York Poker Challenge is in the books with 20 of 116 entries moving on to Day 2. Jason Eisele bagged the top stack after 15 40-minute levels ending the night with 423,300.

Eisele took the chip lead just before dinner and continued to add to his stack as the night grew on. Eisele is fresh off a WPTDeepstacks Maryland Main Event win just a few weeks back where he banked $108,921.

Joining Eisele at the top of the counts are Dave Grana (353,000), Budwey Salhab (322,000), Chris Meyers (294,200), and Illan Kandiah (279,000).

Some of the players requiring another bullet to keep their Main Event run alive include 2017 WNYPC Main Event champion, Guy Klass, and runner-up, Peter Beshay, along with John Brock, Mark Roberts, Chris Babula, Michelle Caldwell, and David Battaglia.

Players will have another shot to qualify for Day 2 on Saturday morning when Day 1b action kicks off at 11 AM. Late registration will remain open until the end of the dinner break following Level 10.
