Pace Picked Off, Salhab Soars

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Jeff Salhab
Jeff Salhab

Local stack destruction expert Bruce Pace has done it again.

He played just about every hand until Jeff Salhab had him covered, then got the last 100,000 in with top pair versus Salhab's bottom set.

Bottom set held and with Pace now out, Salhab moves into the lead.

The Regs

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

A couple of well known local rounders have just turned up, taking advantage of the late entry option still available for another two levels.

This includes the infamous Mike "The Mayor" Rellinger and Blake Napierala, who is almost always a factor in major tournaments in the Niagara Falls Poker Room.

Their entry brings the total number up to 62 now, meaning the $15,000 guarantee has been surpassed and poker room supervisor Brian Bartoe, who reportedly bet his job the guarantee would be met, can stick around for now.

Quadzilla Strikes Again

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante
Mark Roberts
Mark Roberts

Late entrant Mark Roberts got it in with a flush draw and a set of sevens against one opponent's three kings.

"I guess I had the quad draw," Roberts said, collecting the pot when the fourth seven turned up on the river to double him up.

Snover Out, Pace Slides

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

Local hero Andy Snover is no longer, playing just about every hand until Bruce Pace finally busted him.

Pace did double up Buffalo, NY's Jeff Salhab right before that, however, so his lead is not as big as it once was.

Salhab made the nut flush versus Pace's two pair to get the job done.

Legalized Pot

Level 5 : 200/400, 0 ante

Bruce Pace and Bradley Girdler just got in a massive pot that left one with all the chips and the other with none.

The hand started with someone potting it and five people paying 2,200 to see a flop.

Pace potted it for 11,000 on the {9-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and only Girdler called. Pace potted it again for 33,000 on the {5-Clubs} turn. Girdler called, then shoved in for his last 29,200 on the {k-Diamonds} river. Pace counted out a call, and then made it, showing {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for top set.

Girdler had a queen in his hand, two pair and a missed flush draw, claiming he didn't think Pace had the queens and he had to try and bluff the river on his way out the door.

Local Hero Turns Straight

Level 5 : 200/400, 0 ante
Andy Snover
Andy Snover

Andy Snover moved up to local hero status with a bold move moments ago.

He announced he was going to pot it preflop before the deal and stayed true to his words. He got three callers and then got it in on a {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop after trading raises with Bruce Pace.

Snover had the {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} wrap against Pace's {q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} two pair and made the straight when the {4-Spades} turn came. The {j-Spades} river didn't fill up Pace and Snover has a stack now.

Pace Makes Quads

Level 5 : 200/400, 0 ante
Bruce Pace
Bruce Pace

Bruce Pace's second bullet is treating him much better than the first.

He just made quad deuces against jacks full to take heaps of chips and the tournament life of one opponent and now finds himself with the chip lead.
