Comeback Kids

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Varun Palackan
Varun Palackan

Lee Sylvester and Varun Palackan were both chopped down to short stacks but have also both clawed their way back. The interesting part about this is that Sylvester made his comeback through Palackan and left him with one big blind. Immediately after this, Palackan went on a heater of his own.

Sylvester got his chips in the middle with ace-five against Palackan's ace-queen. The river was a five, giving Sylvester a much needed double up. Shortly after, Sylvester picked up pocket jacks and Palackan tried to knock him out with nines, but Sylvester flopped a set and it held.

Palackan was left with one big blind and doubled up twice. In the first hand he held {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and went up against {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}. He backed into a flush for the first double. The next hand he picked up pocket aces and got a call from the big blind with {j-}{9-}, giving him his second double up.

Both players now have a bit more room to play.

'The Mayor' First to Cross Half-Million Mark

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Mike Rellinger Crosses the half-million mark
Mike Rellinger Crosses the half-million mark

Mike 'The Mayor' Rellinger raised to 16,000 from early position, and John McCauley moved all in for his remaining 48,000 on the button. Rellinger asked how much more it was for him to call, and eventually decided to gamble.

Rellinger: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}
McCauley: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The flop came {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, giving Rellinger an overwhelming lead with a set of fours.

The {9-Spades} on the turn left McCauley drawing dead to the {5-Spades} on the river and he was sent to the rail.

Rellinger is the first to cross the 500,000 chip mark in this tournament.
