Event 8: $200 No-Limit Hold'em
Day 1 Completed
Although the Main Event is still ongoing, the eighth and final event on the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge schedule wrapped up early Monday morning with Scott Muwara taking down the title and a revised first-place prize.
Muwara outlasted a whopping 168 entries and with the four-handed chip lead, struck a deal that earned him a little extra cash and the trophy as Rob Burgstahler, Jill Cloud, and Bob Koerntgen were forced to settle for equal shares of the rest.
Although Cloud jumped out to a huge chip lead early in the day, and held onto a big stack throughout making it to the final four in decent shape, Muwara did almost equally as well in the early levels and was hot on her heels all day long.
At one point, Muwara got extremely lucky shoving into Bob Koerntgen's at the final table and making a Broadway straight on a board to double up.
The chip lead did change several times after that but some timely and aggressive play from Muwara ensured it was his by the time the blinds were so high a deal only made sense.
A deal was just struck four-handed giving Scott Muwara $5,000 and the title.
Rob Burgstahler, Jill Cloud, and Bob Koerntgen will each receive $4,157.
