Gotcha!

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Todd Griffin, a resident of nearby Hamburg, New York, is off to a fast start as the first four levels of play come to a close.

He is now near the top of the chip counts thanks to a classic flush-over-flush scenario that saw Griffin make the nuts to drag a sizable pot.

Xiaohu Chen
Xiaohu Chen

Toronto, Canada's Xiaohu Chen was just the recipient of a massive cooler to push up to the top of the chip counts and bust a player.

On a board reading {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Chen and his heads-up opponent got it all in after a series of raises on the river.

Chen's opponent showed {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for the boat, but Chen held the yacht felting {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

Matt Cafarella
Matt Cafarella

Matt Cafarella is off to a decent start jumping up near the top of the early leaderboard after dragging a few decent pots.

One of these pots included doing a little fishing with {10-}{9-} and catching nines full of tens and crack an unlucky opponent's big slick.

The Champ Is Here

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Jerry Calvaneso
Jerry Calvaneso

Less than 12 hours after getting the best of a 139-player field to take down Event #1 of the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge and collect $6,285 in first-place prize money, Jerry Calvaneso is back for more.

He joined the field here in Event #2 within the last few minutes and is already building a stack.

Calvaneso limped from late position and was joined by the player to his left before the button made it 450. Calvaneso called, as did his neighbor and they went three-handed to an {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop.

Calvaneso and the third player in the hand checked before the button made it 900. Only Calvaneso called and was joined by his heads-up opponent in checking the {9-Diamonds} turn. The river came the {7-Diamonds} and both players checked again with Calvaneso showing a turned flush holding {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

The button had {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Calvaneso scooped the pot.

Art Demmerley

Buffalo's own Art Demmerley is off to about as good a start as one can have.

He recently made aces full in a more than 40,000-chip pot and was fortunate enough to get paid off against an opponent holding nines full.

Just halfway through the second level he's got almost twice the starting stack and the early chip lead.
