Palma Climbing

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Vince Palma just won a massive flip with {Q-}{Q-} against {A-}{K-} to increase his stack to 550,000, not far behind chip leader John Grace.

Big Hit for Thomas

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ray Book opened to 25,000 from the button and Travell Thomas three-bet to 80,000 from the small blind. Back to Book, he moved all in for 205,000 and Thomas called.

Book: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Thomas: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The table remained silent even as Book spiked the {J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop, and the {5-Hearts} and {8-Hearts} completed the board to give Book a huge double-up.

Thomas pounded the table in disgust. "Why does everybody always do dumb shit against me?"

However, Thomas is already in better spirits and laughing with Book as he tries to rebuild.

Thomas Takes Chip Lead

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After winning 100,000 from Ray Book the had prior, Travell Thomas found the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} and picked off Andrew Ranaletti's shove with the {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Ranaletti found hope on the {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} flop, but he bricked out on the {J-Hearts} turn and {10-Hearts} river.

Thomas is the new leader with around 570,000.

Big Double for Blake

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Blake Napierala
Blake Napierala

What a rollercoaster day for Blake Napierala. He started the day with 275,000, dipped down to 60,000 and is now back to 280,000 after winning a huge flip.

Napierala shoved for 134,000 from early position and the player in the small blind called. Napierala was flipping with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} against {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and the {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts} board gave him two pair to climb back into contention.

"Who's the Donkey with the King-Five?"

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After a player raised from late position, Jason Sardo moved all in for 40,000 from the small blind. David Schrader was in the big blind and re-shoved for 92,000, and the original raiser folded.

Sardo: {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Schrader: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

"Clubs!" pleaded Sardo, who was only 11% to win the hand. The dealer obliged by bringing two of them --as well as a straight draw — on a {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, and Sardo sealed it when the {7-Spades} peeled off on the turn to give him a straight. He doubled to more than 100,000 when the {A-Spades} completed the board.

Word about the suckout made its way over to Table 5 and Travell Thomas wanted more info.

"Who's the donkey with the king-five?"

Sardo smiled and went back to stacking his new chips.

Steve Phillips Bubbles

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Steve Phillips opened to 25,000 from middle position and Jeff Devoesick called from directly behind. All the chips went in on the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop, and Phillips discovered the bad news.

Phillips: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Devoesick: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

Phillips was unable to find another ace on the turn and river and he exited in 37th place. With that, the final 36 players have locked up a minimum of $1,396.

We're on a 10-minute color-up break.

No Third Title for Ciffa

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Joe Ciffa, who won Event #2 and Event #3 of the 2014 Summer Slam, won't be adding a Main Event title to his list of accomplishments. Ciffa was all in for his last 30,000 with the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} and couldn't outdraw another player's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The final 37 players are hand-for-hand on the money bubble.
