Shaun Davis Tops the Leaderboard on Day 1a of the RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event
The first of three starting flights played to its completion Friday night at the RunGood Poker Series Jamul Casino $575 Main Event. A total of 129 entries came through San Diego's Jamul Casino poker room to compete in Main Event Day 1a.
From that field, 29 players survived to play on in Sunday's Day 2 flights. The top chip stacks among those players included Shaun Davis (305,000), Joe Canez (186,000), Eric Carranza (170,000) and Brian "Golden Blazer" Frenzel (167,000).
The 129 entries put player contributions at more than half of the $100,000 guarantee, with still two more Day 1 flights left to play.
Notable names bagging chips at the end of the night included Tyson Apostol (71,000), Kris Burchfield (65,000), and Jamie Kerstetter (49,000).
The players that didn't make it through can come back Saturday to play in Day 1b (noon start time) and/or Day 1c (7 p.m. start time). All players that make it through any of the Day 1 fights earn a spot in Day 2.
Day 2 begins Sunday at noon local time, and plays until a champion is determined. An RG All-Stars Ring awaits the eventual champion, as well as the winner's share of a prize pool that appears to be heading well past the $100,000 guarantee.
