The Rungood Poker Series Tunica $600 Main Event Begins at 6 pm

Michael Esquivel
Michael Esquivel

Welcome to the newest season of the Rungood Poker Series. The Resort season sees its first series kick off here at Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Mississippi. A total of 12 ring events spread across six days will have players competing not just for rings and the invitations to the Million Dollar freeroll at PokerGO, but also the Golden Player of The Series for the NAPT $10,000 package. The points system is based on the number of entrants into the tournament and with a $200,000 prize pool guarantee, there is a chance that this could be the biggest tournament points-wise of the whole series.

Last time it was Michael Esquivel who outlasted a field of 662 players to claim his first ever RGPS ring as well as $55,321 after making a heads up deal with former RGPS Tunica main event champion Loi Hoang. He bested a field and final table full of RunGood legends like Shaun “The Ghost” Emery (15th-$3,261), Jaymie Virtusio (13th-$3,986), Walker Miskelly (6th-$12,996) and the RunGood player of the year Brian Winter (7th-$10,022).

With the added prestige of the points and the $10,000 golden player of the series package, a lot of players have come down south to play the series including Daniel Lowery, Preston McEwen, Cody Stanford, Katerina Lukina, Chris Conrad, Greg Raymer, and current leader in the Golden player of the series race, Joshua Turner. Each one of them is looking to carve their name even deeper into RunGood history with a shot at the NAPT glory.

Players will begin the tournament with 30,000 in starting chips with blinds at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Levels will last 30 minutes each, today with a 15-minute break at the conclusion of every 4 levels. Play will continue until there is 12.5% left at which point the players will bag up for Day 2 on Sunday September 8th.
