Set Over Set Gives Carlin a Sizable Pot

A player limped in from under the gun, then Thomas Carlin in early position raised to 1,200. A player in middle position called, and when it folded back to the under the gun player, she called as well.

After the 8♥7♠J♦ flop it checked to the middle position player who bet out 1,200. Both the under the gun player and Carlin made the call.

The turn brought the A♣ and both the under the gun player and Carlin again checked called a bet from the middle position player, this time for 3,000.

After the 5♣ on the river, both players again checked the middle position player, who fired out 8,000. The under the gun player thought over her decision before mucking her hand, and Carlin snap called.

The middle position turned over 7♦7♣ for a set of sevens, but Carlin had the winner with A♦A♣ for a set of aces, to take the sizable pot.
