Welcome to Day 1a of the $800 Main Event here at RGPS RunGood Resort Council Bluffs, which kicks off at 6 p.m. local time. A total of 15 ring events have been scheduled in this week's action at Horseshoe Council Bluffs, but everyone has their sights set on this prestigious main event.

In addition to the prize money offered at this week's events, there is a series-long leaderboard. The top three finishers on the leaderboard will receive entry into the $5,000,000 ClubWPT Gold Freeroll Invitational at Wynn Las Vegas from December 13-15, along with a $1,500 travel stipend.

As of writing, the top players in the race are Mo Nuwwarah (230 points), Ryan Ramsdell (200 points), and Brent Gregory (197 points).

Last time around in April of 2024, it was Donald Nimneh who took home the title along with $69,546 after defeating Stefan Kegley heads-up.

Many of the area's finest are expected to come out this weekend, including Scott Buller, two-time champion Derrick Plumage, the red-hot Scott Allacher, and WSOP bracelet winner Bob Slezak.

Players will begin the tournament with 30,000 in starting chips with blinds at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Levels will last 30 minutes each today for the first eight levels and 40 minutes thereafter with a 15-minute break at the conclusion of every two hours of play. Play will continue until there is 12.5% left at which point the players will bag up for Day 2 on Sunday, November 24.
