The Final Winner of The Season Will Be Crowned Today In The RGPS Kansas City Main Event
The 2023-2024 Season for The RunGood Poker Series sees the dawn of the final day. A total of 21 series have been run over the course of this season, with over 200 winners crowned and thousands of dollars have been won by many players around the country. Bringing it all home is the final Main Event of the season. The RGPS $1,100 Kansas City Main Event drew out a total of 477 players to come to the center of The United States to Harrah’s Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.
The whopping prizepool of $462,690 will be divided amongst the final 58 players, with each one already secured a minimum of $1,748. The final player in the tournament will win the first place prize worth $92,228 the final Dream Seat free invite, and a whole host of points as the RGPS Player of the year race winds down.
Leading the way is Ryan Ramsdell, who bagged up 759,000 which was good for the overall tournament chip lead. Ramsdell has been a regular for RGPS stops dating back five years. He has been a force on the tournament circuit all around the country, with $211,534 in lifetime earnings and cashes all around, from Las Vegas to Aruba. Earlier this week, he ended up in second place in the $250 series opener for $6,301. Yesterday he secured a minimum cash with a stack of 83,000, and has now exceeded that chip count number over sevenfold.

Many familiar faces will return to their familiar spots of battling for glory on Day 2. Players like Jesse Jones (616,000), RGPS Council Bluffs Main Event Champion Michael Fouts (532,000), Steven McKuin (274,000), Mark Barrientos (261,000), Casey Henry (201,000), Chris Audrain (171,000), Jeff Grimes (170,000), and Mark Lafata (84,000). Each one of them is looking to etch their name even deeper into RGPS history.
While Brian Winter sits atop of the Rungood Player of the Year points and nothing can change that at this point, the coveted top five spots can certainly see some shifting around. Shaun Emery (271,000), sits in second place with 1,413.96 and Forrest Kollar (358,000) sits in third place with 1,109.48. Each one of them have already secured a bag and will be looking to hold or improve their position in the standings. Daniel “Donk” Hughes sits in fourth with 1,031.86 points and was unable to find a bag on the prior two days and Walker Miskelly sits in fifth with 862.77, but did not come out to the event.
This leaves the door open for three players to come into the top five spots as Day 2 begins. Jackson Turrentine (256,000) sits in sixth place with 828.78 points and Michael Miller (120,000) sits in seventh place with 774.15 points. Each one can hop into the top 5 with a significant cash today. The third player with the potential to hop into the top five is 3-time RGPS Main Event Champion Blair Hinkle (581,000) who sits in 13th with 661.03 points. He can rise up through the ranks with a win. All five of the top players are guaranteed a seat into the $600 Hendon Mob Mid-Major championship this summer at Thunder Valley.
Play ended with 14:20 left in play on Level 14 in Day 1b, with blinds at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante. Players will resume at noon today and play until a winner is crowned.
