Corey Novak Wins Main Event Seat as Scavenger Hunt Winner

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Corey Novak - Scavenger Hunt Winner
Corey Novak - Scavenger Hunt Winner

Starting last night and going up until 1 p.m. today, players had the opportunity to participate in the RIU Reno VIII Scavenger Hunt.

In order to be entered into the drawing, players had to complete a set of tasks throughout the Peppermill Casino. They included play three hands of each of the blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, and Fortune Pai Gow Poker; place a bet at craps and roulette; and finally play two orbits in the poker room, place a sportsbook bet, purchase a keno ticket, and spend $10 at the RIU merch booth.

Three winners were selected with two players receiving a Nike PokerStars duffle bag and a $125 seat. Those went to Michael Holmes and Ryan Schoonbaert.

Up top awaiting the winner was a $600 Main Event seat, dinner at the steakhouse with 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker, and a PokerStars chip set. The final name pulled and the winner of the RIU Reno VIII Scavenger Hunt was Corey Novak, who let loose a "Let's go, baby," after his name was draw.

We'll see you in the Main Event Corey!

Trips Aces for Hardie

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Patrick Tardif raised to 900 from early position and Heather Hardie called from the cutoff. The player in the big blind then popped it to 3,400, Tardif folded, and Hardie thought for a bit before making the call.

When the flop came down {9-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}, both players checked and the dealer burned and turned the {6-Clubs}.

The big blind bet 5,000, Hardie called, and the {5-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Again action went check-check and the big blind showed the {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. It was no good though as Hardie had flopped trips holding the {a-Spades}{3-Spades}.

Brown Denies Adcock a Bounty

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Five players each put in 1,200 preflop and took a flop of {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Both blinds checked and Kevin Adcock bet 2,000 from early position. The hijack folded, the player in the cutoff called, and Jason Daniele folded from the small blind. Clifford Brown then called from the big.

All three players then checked the {3-Clubs} turn before the {4-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Brown led out for 3,000, leaving himself 3,400 behind. Adcock opted to raise to 7,000, the cutoff folded, and Brown called off holding the {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for trips. It was good as Adcock folded what he claimed were pocket kings.
