Stapleton On Brand Early

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Joe Stapleton came over to his new table with a second-bullet registration slip, and gave PokerNews an updated chip count of 10,000.

"Are you afraid that's as high as you'll get today?" asked tournament director Bob, to which Stapleton replied yes. Stapleton then realized he hadn't been given his new chips, and Bob was called back over.

"This is my natural state," quipped Stapleton, referring to the lack of chips. That got a laugh from Bjorn Peterson, who admitted he was trying to come up with a joke of his own for the situation, but couldn't come up with anything fast enough.

"I'm literally here for your amusement," said Stapleton.

Rister Cracks Aces and Kings

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Jinnifer Rister had her last 7,000 in preflop from middle position, and an early position player had his last 10,300 committed, while the cutoff had both players at risk.

Jinnifer Rister: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Early Position: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Cutoff: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Rister's prospects looked dim before the {10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop gave her some hope with a pair of queens. She turned trips with the {q-Spades}, and was able to triple up after the {q-Clubs} river.

Tardif Coolers Danforth For a Double

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Patrick Tardif bet 1,700 from the big blind into a pot of around 4,000 on a {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop, and Joel Danforth called in the hijack.

The {7-Clubs} hit the turn, and Tardif bet 5,000. Danforth announced, "All in," and Tardif instantly called off his last 15,000.

Patrick Tardif: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Joel Danforth: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Danforth had a single out to knock Tardif out, but the {j-Spades} failed to make his straight flush, sending the double to Tardif.

Merlo Hits the River on Rogers

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

With the board showing {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}, Leyla Rogers put out a bet for 1,700 from under the gun.

Yoan Merlo raised to 4,600 from the button, and Rogers thought it over briefly before making the call. Rogers was left shaking her head when Merlo tabled {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for the rivered straight.

Osorio Triples Up

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Matt Osorio jammed for 3,000 from the hijack, and Vincent Newland called on the button. The small blind then three-bet shoved for 16,000, and after the small blind folded, Newland called off his last 4,300.

Matt Osorio: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Vincent Newland: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

"I feel like one of you guys is going to hit a set," the small blind said.

Instead, no one improved on a {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} board, and Osorio tripled up, while Newland made a small profit on the side pot.

Hand #1:

Austin Roberts limped in on the button, and Jon "PearlJammed" Turner quickly tossed in a raise to 700 in the big blind. Roberts paused for a moment, then folded.

Two hands later, Roberts raised to 500 from the cutoff, and Turner three-bet to 1,600 on the button. The blinds folded, and Roberts four-bet to 5,500. Turner, who had just 7,400 behind, instantly folded.
