Lahti Knocks Out Burt

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

William Lahti opened to 10,000 from middle position, Jared Shipley called in the small blind, and Rod Burt three-bet all in from the big blind.

Lahti called, and Shipley folded.

Rod Burt: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
William Lahti: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Board: {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The nine in the window gave Burt hope of coming from behind for the win, but Lahtu's queens held up through the runout, sending Burt to the rail.

Nguyen Wins a Flip Against Turner

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jon Turner had 40,000 in front of him from the cutoff, and was contemplating calling a shove from Anthony Nguyen in the small blind for 155,000. Turner tanked for a few minutes, then called.

Anthony Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Jon Turner: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Turner, who spent his day off yesterday shipping the $125 T.O.E. event here for $2,400, winced when the {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop gave Nguyen trip aces and a big lead. The {7-Hearts} turn and {5-Diamonds} river failed to deliver Turner a jack, and Nguyen doubled up.

Brewster Goes Big

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Nick Kiley opened to 11,000 on the button, and got calls from John Brewster in the small blind and Josh Fontenot in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Brewster checked, and Fontenot bet 10,000. Kiley called, and Brewster rerasied all in.

Both opponents folded, and Brewster made an early addition to the stack.

Shipley's Queens Net a Double

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Rod Burt raised to 15,000 from under the gun, and Bruce Spikell called in the small blind. Jared Shipley three-bet shoved for 49,000 in the big blind, Burt called and Spikell folded.

Jared Shipley: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Rod Burt: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Shipley's queens survived the {2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop, and he said, "Be good to me!" before the {q-Hearts} hit the turn, giving him a set. Burt could still knock out Shipley with a king on the river, but the {7-Clubs} earned Shipley the double.

Coen Can't Rally the Short Stack

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Dan Coen
Dan Coen

Chris Lindner raised to 11,000 from middle position, and Dan Coen, who started the day as the short stack of the tournament, put his last 7,000 in from the cutoff. John Skrovan called the 11,000 from Lindner on the button.

Lindner bet 8,000 on the {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop, and Skrovan called.

The {k-Hearts} fell on the turn, and Lindner checked. Skrovan bet 20,000 and Lindner folded, earning Skrovan the side pot.

Dan Coen: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
John Skrovan: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

"Good luck everyone," Coen said upon seeing he was drawing dead to Skrovan's Big Slick, and he headed to get paid after the {9-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.
