Vanderpol Beats Somerville with Queens

Level 2 : 75/150, 25 ante

After Jeff Jansen raised to 450 from the hijack seat, Jason Somerville called from the button. Henry Vanderpol called out of the big blind, and the dealer spread the {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop. Vanderpol and Jansen checked, then Somerville bet 1,025. Vanderpol called, and Jansen folded.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, and both Vanderpol and Somerville checked to see the {10-Diamonds} land on the river. Both checked again.

Somerville tabled the {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} in an optimistic manner, but it was no good against the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} that Vanderpol held, and he won the pot. That moved Vanderpol to about 12,500 and knocked Somerville down to 14,300.

A couple of hands later, Vanderpol opened from middle position with a raise. After the player in the cutoff seat reraised to 900, play folded back to Vanderpol and he moved all in. His opponent quickly folded, and Vanderpol won the pot to chip up some more.
