This Is... The Main Event!
This is it, the final event of Jason Somerville's 2015 Run It Up Reno festival — the $565 Main Event.
The Main Event will boasts a $100,000 guarantee that shouldn't have any problem being reached, and early predictions have the field at 350-400 entries. Players will begin with 25,000 in tournament chips and levels will last 40 minutes long throughout, except for the turbo Day 1b that takes place on Saturday before Day 2. Reentries will be allowed through Level 10 (500/1,000/200) and unlimited, plus late registration will remain open until the first hand is dealt on Day 2.
All of the notable faces here at the Peppermill Reno will be in action, although the host himself, Somerville, won't be playing as he'll be handling all live streaming duties for the duration of the event. But despite his absence in this one, Somerville did bank a nice victory in Thursday's $125 Six-Max Five-Card Pot-Limit Omaha tournament for $3,828.
One of the best stories to follow in the Main Event will be that of William Recker. A player who qualified for this event via DraftKings, Recker went four-for-four with cashes and has made two final tables thus far at Run It Up Reno. He told PokerNews that he wasn't fully sure he'd make the trip out to Reno, as he was debating between taking the cash and the fact that he never played a live poker tournament before this series. As it turns out, his decision to come to Run It Up Reno has resulted in nearly $4,000 in earnings.
Today's Day 1a will start at 12 p.m. local time and play the first 10 levels on the schedule. Tomorrow's Day 1b will start bright and early at 8:30 a.m. local time and feature a turbo structure with 15-minute levels. The second starting flight will feed right into Day 2 starting at noon, where all survivors will be combined into one player pool to continue the quest. Players are allowed to play multiple flights and they will forfeit the smallest stack when advancing to Day 2.
