It's Main Event Time!
Action is nearly set to get underway for Day 2 of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) WCOOP-91-L: $55 NLHE [8-Max, NLHE Main Event]. The $55 buy-in game guaranteed $1.5 million, but they crushed that during a huge Day 1 with more than 35,000 entries. With late registration open until Day 2 action kicks off, the current prize pool of $1,861,400 will certainly still get bigger.
At the end of Day 1, there were some 8,600 players with stacks remaining for Day 2 play, but a significant number of players are still looking to take advantage of late registration to star Day 2 with a starting stack of 25,000. With play on Day 2 starting at Level 18, Blinds: 900/1,800 (225), new entries will get into the game with just under 14 big blinds, which might be ideal for short stack specialists. Already, nearly 1,000 players have jumped into the game overnight to try their hand with 4 bigs.
Lots of players chose to try and build a bigger Day 2 stack during Day 1 however. "Rina-666666" was the most successful at that, putting more than 630,000 into their virtual bag at the end of the night. Seven players bagged more than 500,000, and quite a few players will come into Day 2 with 400,000+.
There are a few PokerStars notables among the bigger stacks as well. Newly minted ambassador Sam "SamSquid" Grafton is one of the players with more than 400,000, while Lasse "Wistern" Jagd Lauritsen bagged more than 300,000 to end Day 1. Rafael "GM_VALTER" Moraes, Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle, Fintan "EasyWithAces" Hand, and Mason "Pye_Face21" Pye also bagged top 1,000 Day 1 stacks, but there are some other pros lower down the list still as well.
