Hungary's "uzzy993" Bags Day 1 Chip Lead in the 2020 WCOOP Low Main Event at PokerStars

Level 17 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Day 1 of the four-day WCOOP-72-L: $55 NLHE 8-Max NLHE Main Event at PokerStars was a monumental success with 34,426 entrants generating a $1,721,300 prize pool.

This not only already crushed the $1.25 million guarantee but the prize pool will continue to grow with late registration open until near the start of Day 2 on Monday, Sept. 21 at 3:05 p.m. EDT / 7:05 p.m. CEST.

A total of 8,336 players survived the opening day battle led by Hungary's "uzzy993" with 671,549 in chips. This places him more than 80 big blinds ahead of his nearest competitors in Panama's "yayo8422", Austria's "roman1607", and Germany's "Hering CNG" all bagging slightly more than 500,000 in chips.

Team PokerStars Update

Felix Schneiders
Felix "xflixx" Schneiders bags the most among the PokerStars Ambassadors on Day 1 of the WCOOP Low Main Event

A total of eight PokerStars Ambassadors joined the action with half that making it through to Day 2. Felix "xflixx" Schneiders was the most successful of the pack after growing his 25,000 starting stack into 90,517 in chips using a single entry.

Mason "Pye_Face21" Pye and Georgina "GJReggie" James also both advanced to Day 2 on a single bullet while it took Arlie "Prince Pablo" Shaban three tries before he got through as well.

Meanwhile, Fintan "easywithaces" Hand, Ben "Spraggy" Spragg, and 2019 PSPC Champion Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas were all on unable to advance but it wasn't for a lack of trying with the trio each firing the maximum four bullets.

Tom “MajinBoob” Hayward also didn't advance for Day 1 but called it a day after two bullets. Hayward may still be witnessed back in the field as he like many others can still re-enter until the start of Day 2.

Stay Tuned for Day 2

The action will resume for Day 2 on Monday, Sept. 21 at 1:05 p.m. EDT / 7:05 p.m. CEST and should prove to be an action-packed day. Not only will the big field be trimmed down past the 4,863 players or so that will get paid but deep into the money with the action concluding with just 160 players remaining.

Blind levels will be trimmed down from 20 minutes per level to 15 minutes the rest of the way.
