Short Day for ElkY

ElkY's WCOOP has come to a close
ElkY's WCOOP has come to a close

One of the tournament's most dangerous threats has just been eliminated. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier got his remaining 62,352 chips in preflop with {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and "log1c007" called from the small blind with {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The Frenchman came up empty on the {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} board and he exited in 135th place for just over $15,000.

It marked the end of successful WCOOP for Grospellier. He cashed 13 times in the series and finished just short of his third bracelet by taking fifth place in Event #59 on Sunday.

"Yeahhhhh Bucky........"

Shawn Buchanan
Shawn Buchanan

...is what Greg Mueller would be yelling from the rail right now after his buddy Shawn "buck21" Buchanan pulled a nice little suckout.

In a blind vs blind battle, Buchanan shoved from the small blind. In the big blind was "streadle" who woke up with {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and called all in for 87,050. Buchanan was well behind with {K-Spades}{4-Spades}, but that changed in a hurry when the flop came down {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} to give Buchanan a flush. The {8-Diamonds} turn locked it up for him, with the {8-Clubs} river merely a formality.

Assassinato Gets His Hands Dirty

Alex Fitzgerald
Alex Fitzgerald

Alex "Assassinato" Fitzgerald just got healthier by eliminating a short-stacked "Fofan10." Fitzgerald opened to 10,250 from early position and Fofan10 moved all in for 65,530 with {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Fitzgerald called with {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} and the {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs} board gave him a pair of kings to send the Russian to the rail.

Rosen Eliminated

Jamie Rosen - Eliminated
Jamie Rosen - Eliminated

After "Grekzorba" opened in middle position to 10,500, Jamie "TheCronic420" Rosen re-raised to 23,990 in the hijack. Action folded back to "Grekzorba" who shoved for 150,047.

Rosen called for majority of his stack with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}, flipping with "Grekzorba's" {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The flop and turn came {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, good for Rosen, but the {7-Clubs} spiked on the rier to leave Rosen with two big blinds.

He picks up aces and tripled up the following hand, but fell shortly thereafter.

Howard Busts Hall

Ryan "ryanghall" Hall opened to 11,500 in early position. Greg "gregior" Howard three-bet to 30,000 in the cutoff and action folded back to Hall who jammed for 167,500. Howard called immediately with {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} and had Hall's {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} drawing thin.

The board came down {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs} to give Howard the pot.

Marton Czuczor

Marton "noirduck" Czuczor opened to 10,600 in early position and action folded to "iamadumbnoob" in the small blind who shoved for 62,141. Czuczor mulled it over briefly before calling with {K-Spades}{10-Spades}, flipping against {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

The board rolled out {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, giving Czuczor a straight to score the elimination.
