Andrew Porter Prospers on the Bubble and Bags Massive Stack on Day 1c
The players showed up in a big way for Event #3: $2,200 No Limit Hold’Em at the PokerStars Summer Series at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. There was no shortage of players and no shortage of action as the day progressed. After it was all said and done Andrew Porter (1,027,000) bagged a massive chip lead to take into Day 2.
Porter, who is a WSOP bracelet winner, has made an appearance at all three of the events at the Summer Series but it seems he has finally hit his stride on this last Day 1 of this event. He went into the final few levels with a healthy chip stack, but he prospered on the bubble by way of aggressive play and well-timed pressure being applied to his tablemates. He goes into Day 2 with only one player ahead of him in chips.
A total of 222 players took their shot at the $873,600 prize pool and Flight 1c was much like 1a in that there were tons of players with deep stacks and few players willing to push their equity and go for the homerun on the bubble. This led to the final 10 bust-outs taking close to three hours and quite a few hands. When the last chips fell the final 28 players found a bag and stamped their ticket to Day 2.
However, after the dust settled there were plenty of other players that bagged big on Day 1c and will look to take a shot at the massive $172,390 first place prize and coveted PokerStars Trophy. Azamat Isakov (880,000) held the chip lead for a large portion of the day and was only surpassed by Porter In the last few levels of play, experienced veteran Greg Himmelbrand (774,000) was seen putting the pressure on in multiple spots and looking to be in the mix, and George Abi-Zeid (754,000) was quiet for much of the day but got into a massive hand that burst the bubble and shot him up the leaderboard when it mattered most.
