Event #20: $200 8-GAME, $12.5K Gtd
Day 1 Completed
A break from big-bet-only games came by way of NJCOOP-20: $200 8-Game, $12.5K GTD on Friday night, and it proved to be a hit.
The eight-game mixed event drew 81 entries (56 entrants and 25 re-entries), generating an overall prize pool of $15,066 that was paid out to the top 11 players.
When the dust settled, Daniel "loxonbagel" Buzgon was the last player standing, coming out on top after a nearly hour-long final table after he entered as the chip leader.
One by one, players fell until three remained, and just a mere 20 minutes then went by as Buzgon continued to pull away from the pack to take down the top prize of $3,674.77.
Place | Player | Prize |
---|---|---|
1 | Daniel "loxonbagel" Buzgon | $3,674.77 |
2 | senor stinks | $2,799.94 |
3 | p0k3rking33 | $2,133.43 |
4 | Drunk Spew | $1,625.57 |
5 | LargeFarva99 | $1,238.61 |
6 | AxyAnderson | $943.76 |
7 | FlyinAlbo22 | $719.10 |
Players remained on their toes all tournament long as the eight-game rotation cycled through a different format of poker every six minutes. Fourteen players registered from the start, though that number was into the 40s halfway through the three-hour-and-five-minute late registration period, and it continued to climb steadily until its final resting point at 81.
When registration closed, 28 players remained and it took just over 60 minutes for the bubble to burst with the final 11 set to be paid. A few game rotations later, hand-for-hand was enacted as just eight remained, though some 20 minutes passed before "CrazylKilla" was eliminated in eighth place by "Drunk Spew" to reach the final table of seven.
"FlyinAlbo22" the first to bust the final table and did so during Limit-Hold'em, with "AxyAnderson" bowing out in sixth shortly thereafter during Omaha Hi-Lo.
By the time 2-7 Triple Draw was reached again, action was three-handed and "senor stinks" eliminated "p0k3rking33" from the tournament in third, only to fall to runner-up shortly after to Buzgon.
The NJCOOP series, which will run through October 26, features $1 million in total guarantees across 54 events.

The crown jewel of the series is of course the $300 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, which boasts a $125,000 guarantee. That one takes place Sunday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. local time.
It'll be accompanied by a smaller $50 No-Limit Hold'em Mini Main Event, with a $25,000 guarantee.
Players who enjoy non-hold'em formats will also have plenty to choose from. There are several pot-limit Omaha events, including a $500 six-max high roller. There's even $100 Pot-Limit Badugi, $100 H.O.R.S.E. and $100 5-Card PLO.
PokerStars NJ is also committed to giving frustrated players extra value via freeroll tickets. Those who get eliminated shy of the money will be given tickets into events awarding more NJCOOP seats.
