An Orbit with Sam 'TheSquid' Grafton

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

If there's one thing we've learned this week at the PokerStars Festival Bucharest, it's that the Romanian's aren't here to mess around.

Based on what we've seen from the side-lines here, play has been fast, aggressive and a certainly a tad unpredictable. Today alone, we lost half the Main Event starting field just two 60-minute levels into play.

Find out more about when the PokerStars Blog experienced an orbit with Sam Grafton here.

Day 2 Chipleader Nandor Solyom Eliminated

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Nandor Solyom
Nandor Solyom

Fahredin Mustafov moved all in from the small blind without any openers. Nandor Solyom called in the big blind and was allin.

Solyom: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Mustafov: {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts} giving Mustafov a pair and a flush draw. The turn was the {2-Spades}, but the river was the {8-Spades} giving Mustafov two pair and eliminating the overnight chipleader in 19th place.

Peretz Eliminated by Eclapier

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

It was all-in preflop between Johann Eclapier who held {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} but was behind to Yaniv Peretz's {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The flop came {5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades} with no help to Eclapier. But Eclapier yet out an exclamation of joy at the {a-Clubs} on the turn and repeated the noise on the {k-Spades} river as his opponent's elimination was secured.

Iacob Eliminated by Taramas

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

On a {8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, Iulian Iacob was all in holding {10-Hearts}{k-Hearts} against EPT Loutraki final tablist Ioannis Taramas who held {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and the river the {6-Clubs} meaning Taramas's hand held up. However, for reasons known only to him, he started making frustrated hand gestures as if he had lost the hand.

It was only when Iacob got up from the table and the dealer announced 'Seat open,' that he double-checked the board and his opponent's cards and realised the pot was getting pushed to him.

Chris Moneymaker in High Roller action

The €2,200 High Roller, which started last night with 111 runners is now down to just 39. Only 15 of them will make the money though.

Two of the bigger names in the line-up - Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker and Romania's all-time money earner and only WSOP bracelet winner Alex Papazian - have both fallen by the wayside in this last level.

Grafton Bests Nietrzebka

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Two players who didn't move as a quirk of the seating draw at the three table redraw were Daniel Nietrzebka and Sam Grafton.

Here Nietrzebka raised to 45,000 from middle position and Grafton three-bet to 155,000 from the hijack. NIetrzebka called.

On a flop of {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds} Nietrzebka check-called a bet of 140,000 and the turn was the {9-Clubs}.

Again, Nietrzebka check-called, this time for 335,000.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Nietrzebka checked a third time. Grafton moved all in for 690,000 and after some consideration, Nietrzebka let his hadn go.

In the very next hand Grafton eliminated Ronen Mozeson when Grafton's {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} bested his opponent's {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} on a board of {q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
