Grafton Cracks Aces

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Sam Grafton opened from the button and Paul Esau three-bet to 1,350 from the big blind. Grafton called.

The flop was {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Esau check-called a bet of 2,025. The turn was the {q-Clubs} and Esau again check-called a bet, this time for 7,600.

The river was the {q-Hearts}. Esau checked.

"Did he check?" asked Grafton, and when the response came from the dealer that Esau had indeed checked, Grafton checked behind.

Esau showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for pocket aces, but Grafton seemingly too great pleasure in showing {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flush.

"I don't play many hands, but when I do I raise nine-four suited," remarked one of Grafton's tablemates.

"I don't check back many rivers, but when I do I have a flush," retorted Grafton.
