River Check-Raise Makes for Huge Pot

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

David Peters opened under the gun for 27,000 and big blind Philipp Gruissem defended. Gruissem check-called 40,000 on the {2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} flop before both of them checked the {7-Hearts} turn.

So far, the pot wasn't all that big, but that would change on the river.

The {6-Diamonds} completed the board and Gruissem checked again. Peters bet 115,000 and action was on Gruissem. The German high-roller tanked, needed some extra time and used a time bank chip to get it. After just a bit more, Gruissem check-raised to 375,000.

Peters needed some time as well but eventually called. Gruissem showed {K-Spades}{6-Spades}, the pot went to Peters who tabled {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.
