$10,300 High Roller

Day 3 Started

Welcome to Day 3 of PokerStars Championship Panama $10,300 High Roller

Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Will Steve O'Dwyer continue to cement his legacy as one of the top high roller players in the world? That's the question on the minds of poker fans everywhere as Day 3 of the PokerStars Championship Panama $10,300 High Roller begins.

Just five players remain in contention, and O'Dwyer is foremost among them with a stack of 1,849,000. He won a big flip against rival Anthony Zinno at the end of Day 2 with sevens holding against king-jack to get to this position.

Of course, given that this is a $10K, he's got some stiff competition remaining, players who have experienced big success in the world of tournament poker. Here's how the table will be laid out:

1Felipe Ramos273,000
2Sam Greenwood1,273,000
3Francois Billard1,494,000
4Steve O'Dwyer1,849,000
5Chris Hunichen746,000

PokerStars Team Pro Felipe Ramos is the shortest stack and will have only about 13 big blinds as the players sit down to play Level 21 (10,000/20,000/3,000). Otherwise, the players are fairly deep, and it wouldn't be a big surprise if there was a lengthy Day 3 on the docket with plenty of back-and-forth battling.

They're playing for $274,740 that's earmarked to the winner, along with a trophy and the right call oneself a high roller champion. Cards begin flying at 2 p.m. local time, per player request at the end of Day 2, so stay tuned to see who will claim the lion's share of the prize money.

First Three-Bet Pot to O'Dwyer

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

The opening salvos between the players had been small, with the most notable moment perhaps being Chris Hunichen and Steve O'Dwyer discussing their mutual love for hot sauce — O'Dwyer ordered some eggs and then reached into his backpack and whipped out a personal bottle of the stuff, which impressed Hunichen.

Finally, a three-bet pot broke out when Francois Billard opened for 44,000 on the button and O'Dwyer made it 140,000 to go in the small blind. Billard called, and the flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. O'Dwyer fired out 180,000, and Billard gave it up after staring at the board for about 30 seconds.

Ramos: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Francois Billard vs. Sam Greenwood

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Francois Billard raised to 44,000 under the gun and Sam Greenwood defended the big blind to see a {7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop.

Greenwood check-called a bet of 62,000 and then turned right around and led out for 60,000 on the {4-Diamonds} turn. Billard called and then bet 144,000 after Greenwood had checked the {10-Diamonds} river.

That did the trick as Greenwood released.

Hunichen Folds to the Last Barrel

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Chris Hunichen raised first to act to 50,000. Sam Greenwood flatted him, and both blinds folded. Hunichen bet 50,000 more on the {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop, and Greenwood raised it up to 150,000. Hunichen called. He then checked the {q-Clubs} turn and called a small bet of 115,000. Hunichen checked the {k-Spades} river and Greenwood put in 395,000 after thinking for a couple of minutes. Hunichen folded fairly quickly.
