Big Double For Bansal

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Ben Lai and Raghav Bansal have just played a big pot. Pre-flop it was Bansal the man in the driver’s seat, opening with a raise to 51,000 from the cutoff with Lai calling from the big blind.

Lai checked the {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop over to Bansal, who continuation bet 58,000, which Lai quickly called before checking the {4-Spades} turn.

The Hong Kong player evidently had plans for the hand however, and after Bansal fired again, betting out 132,000, Lai slid out a check-raise totalling 300,000.

Bansal sat back and took off the sunglasses, sizing up Lai before thowing in the call with 5-seconds left on the shot clock and the river came down {k-Clubs}.

Now he had the initiative in the hand Lai looked loath to lose it and quickly moved all-in for roughly 900,000, sending the Indian player deep into the think tank, where he remained for the full 30-seconds, burning through his last remaining time bank chip before tossing in the call with seconds to spare.

Lai rolled over {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Bansal stood up and gave a quiet but heartfelt ‘yeah!’ slapping down {6-Spades}{9-Spades} for flopped two pair. That tough call saw Bansal stack up to 2.4 million while Lai is left with a bowl of rice – a paltry 75,000.
