Reard Busts to Durnegger

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Alexandre Reard
Alexandre Reard

Alexandre Reard was among the shortest stacks with 17 players remaining and moved all in from late position. He found one caller in Markus Durnegger and the cards were tabled.

Alexandre Reard: {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Markus Durnegger: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

"Ohhh, I see clubs," someone at the table said when the flop fell {K-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Durnegger could barely watch anymore. The {8-Spades} turn gave Reard additional outs with the double gutshot, but a blank {2-Diamonds} river sent the Frenchman to the rail in 17th place for €49,150.

Fabrice Maltez Eliminated

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Fabrice Maltez
Fabrice Maltez

Jakub Michalak opened the hijack for 65,000 and Fabrice Maltez on the button called. Big blind Oliver Weis over called and checked on {2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Michalak bet 85,000 and Maltez raised to 315,000. Weiss folded, Michalak called.

The {2-Spades} on the turn paired the board and Michalak checked. Maltez shoved for 640,000 and Michalak instantly called.

Fabrice Maltez: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Jakub Michalak: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The river {4-Spades} was a blank and Maltez made his exit.

Pollak Busts Cabrera and Kolev in Huge Three-Way Clash

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Benjamin Pollak
Benjamin Pollak

Sergio Cabrera started the hand with a raise to 65,000 and Benjamin Pollak three-bet to 175,000 after having asked for a count on Cabrera's stack on the other side of the table. Boris Kolev moved all in from the cutoff and now it was up to Cabrera who asked for a count. Kolev was at risk for 750,000 and Cabrera moved all in over the top.

"How much is it?" Pollak asked and inquired about an exact count. Cabera's all in was for 1,270,000 and Pollak slid forward a stack for the call, having both opponents covered.

Boris Kolev: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Sergio Cabrera: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Benjamin Pollak: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop improved Pollak to a set, and the {Q-Spades} turn gave Kolev the inferior set while Cabrera now had a straight draw. Instead, the {K-Hearts} river improved Pollak further and he sent two opponents to the rail with quads, taking a commanding lead with 18 players remaining.

Maltez Above a Million

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Fabrice Maltez started the day as one of the shorter stacks, but has since chipped up nicely. Maltez defended his big blind against a raise by Jakub Michalak and check-called a bet on the {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. Both checked the {Q-Diamonds} turn and Maltez then bet the {10-Diamonds} river for 160,000.

Michalak called and mucked when Maltez turned over {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for queens and tens.

But first, how should one play in these late stages of big tournaments? One player who certainly knows is Sam 'TheSquid' Grafton, still fresh from his victory at the PokerStars Festival Bucharest only one month ago.

Kruk Doubles Perrault

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Marc-Olivier Perrault opened for 60,000 and his neighbor Christopher Kruk in the cutoff called. The flop came {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Perrault bet 65,000 with 370,000 behind. Kruk shoved all in and Perrault instantly called.

Marc-Olivier Perrault: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Christopher Kruk: {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The {8-Hearts} on the turn paired Kruk but it wasn't enough as the {10-Spades} completed the board. Double for Perrault.

Kruk Doubles Patel; Busts Walter After

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Hand 1

Emil Patel raised to 65,000 and Christopher Kruk moved all in from the big blind, which Patel snap-called for his last 720,000.

Emil Patel: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Christopher Kruk: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Patel doubled.

Hand 2

Exactly one hand later, Kruk open-shoved from the small blind and Joaquin Walter counted his stack of 485,000 carefully before tossing in a chip for the call.

Joaquin Walter: {A-Spades}{3-Spades}
Christopher Kruk: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Walter had spades and one over card as outs, but was left drawing dead on the turn of a board {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} to join the rail in 21st place for €38,350.

Zhou Eliminates Brouk

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Tomi Brouk
Tomi Brouk

Tomi Brouk got his last 745,000 in from the hijack, up against Quan Zhou on the button.

Tomi Brouk: {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Quan Zhou: {a-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}, pairing Zhou but giving Brouk outs to a straight. The {9-Spades} on the turn gave him flush outs but the {7-Hearts} on the river wasn't one of the cards he was looking for and he exited in 22nd place.
