Winter Can't Get Traction

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

Sean Winter opened to 1,000 on the button Lauri Varonen made it 3,300 in the small blind. Winter called to see {3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop. Varonen checked and Winter bet 4,300. Varonen called and both checked the {7-Spades}. The river paired the board with the {3-Clubs}. Varonen bet 7,100 and took the pot.

Shortly after that, Winter and Varonen played a big pot with Winter limping under the gun and calling 1,300 from Varonen. They both checked the flop and got stacks in on a {7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} board on the turn. Both held {k-}{7-} but Varonen had a gutshot to go with one overcard, while Winter had two overs to the seven for better two pair. The river bricked off and they chopped.
