Pesek Survives

There aren't too many eliminations duing this freezeout period, but this doesn't mean there haven't been all ins. I've personally witnessed an abundance of raises, all ins and folds, one of those being Michael Pesek who survived an all in after a raise and a call. Both players folded.

Kersjes Chip Leader

There were an impressive five limpers before Sabine Schifflholz made it 2,500 from the big blind. It folded around to Jeroen Kersjes on the button, who examined Schifflholz' remaining stack (he just covered her) before reraising all in for a total of 8,400. Schifflholz pulled a variety of faces before calling all in for the biggest pot of this young tournament.

Kersjes: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Schifflholz: {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}

Board: an exciting but ultimately uneventful {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {Q-Spades} {3-Spades} {J-Diamonds}

Thus Schifflholz became our first post-rebuy exit, and Kersjes is our new chip leader on around 18,000.

No Los for Fedor

Fedor Los doubled through just prior to the rebuy period. He gambled with {10-Spades}{8-Spades}, ran into the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} of Franciscus Dekker, and managed to make a straight on the river of a {4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} board. Los didn't realise at first, but was quickly notified by the dealer mid-pocket dipping.

Break Time

The rebuy period has now officially ended, and players are entitled to a juicy 2,000 chip top-up before they head off for a well-earned 30 minute break. Time to make it once down the mountain, if they run for the ski lift right now.

Clinical Flop for Steiner

Play has really started to pick up now, players eager to gamble as the freezeout stage nears. One player who failed in this mission was Michael Pesek, whose {A-?}{Q-?} versus {2-?}{2-?} was no good against Christian Steiner. The flop was a rather clinical {J-?}{J-?}{2-?} flop, no miracle arriving on the blank turn and river.

Steiner now up to 5,500.
