2007 PokerNews Cup - Australia
Champ Event 5 - $1,100 HORSE
Day: 2
Martin Harvey 85,000
Billy 'the Croc' Argyros 79,000
Rainer Quel 77,000
Quel checked seventh street and Taylor bet 12,000. Rainer called. Taylor showed his cards and had a pair of sevens for high and a 6-4-3-2-A for low. Rainer flipped over one of his three hole cards and exposed an 8 for a pair of eights to win the high. Quel didn't show his other two cards and Billy the Croc asked to see them. One card was exposed and the other was accidentaly pushed into the muck by the dealer. Paul Taylor felt that Quel's hand should have been killed. If any cards hit the muck, the rule is that the hand is declared dead. The TD came over and made a ruling. They said it was a dealer's error and that Quel should not be punished. He was awarded his half of the pot.
Quel (x-x)
Quel completed to 6,000 on third street, Taylor raised and Quel called. On fourth Taylor led out and Quel called. On fifth Taylor bet again and Quel called. On sixth Taylor bet 12,000 showing T-J-Q-K for four to a straight. Quel sighed, shook his head and let out a chuckle before mucking his cards.
After the hand Quel was down to 44,000 while Taylor was up to 140,000.
Quel and Billy the Croc hooked up again, taking a stud hand all the way to the river. The Croc made a seven high straight and all Quel could show down was a pair of nines. That hand crippled him to only 34,000 in chips.
On the very next deal, Martin Harvey completed to 6,000, Quel raised, Harvey re-raised and Quel called. On fourth Harvey bet, Quel raised all in and Harvey called.
