Steffen Sontheimer Takes Over the Chip Lead

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

With 135,000 in the pot and a board reading {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts}, Steffen Sontheimer bet 165,000 from the big blind with his {10-Spades}{4-Spades} flush and Doug Polk, who was in the cutoff with {a-}{6-}, paid him off.

With that, Sontheimer took over the chip lead while Polk fell to third behind Brandon Adams.

Jake Schindler Fills Up on the River

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Doug Polk raised to 16,000 from the button holding the {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Jake Schindler defended from the big bind with the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Schindler then check-called a bet of 27,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} before both players checked the {A-Clubs} turn. The {4-Spades} river gave Schindler a full house, and he checked no doubt hoping Polk would take another stab at the pot.

He didn't though as he checked behind and Schindler was pushed the pot.

Doug Polk raised to 30,000 from the hijack with the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Justin Bonomo just called with the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} in the big blind.

Bonomo then checked his set on the {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop and Polk, who flopped top pair, continued for 27,000. Bonomo just called and then check-called a bet of 105,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn.

When the {K-Diamonds} river put three diamonds on the board, action went check-check and Bonomo tabled the winner.

First Blood to Steffen Sontheimer

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

In the first hand of the day, Brandon Adams raised to 30,000 from middle position holding the {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and Steffen Sontheimer defended from the big blind with the {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

When the flop came down {9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Spades}, Sontheimer check-called a bet of 65,000 and then both players checked the {K-Spades} turn.

The {A-Diamonds} river saw Sontheimer fire a big bet of 211,000 and Adams burned a time extension before folding the best hand.

Event #4: $50,000 NLHE at the Poker Masters at the ARIA Resort and Casino began with 39 entries, and today just the final table of seven return to action.

Doug Polk comes in with 1.357 million, which is enough for the chip lead. Polk jumped into action late yesterday as he had also made the final table of Event #3, ultimately finishing in 5th place for $144,000. The only other player in seven-figure territory is Brandon Adams with 1.187 million.

Also at the final table is Steffen Sontheimer, who has technically made every last table of each Poker Masters tournament. He finished fourth in Event #1 for $204,000 and then won Event #2 for $900,000. In Event #3, he busted in eighth place, which was the money bubble.

That puts him in the lead for Poker Masters earnings with $1.104 million. If you recall, the player with the best results (highest total earnings) throughout all five Poker Masters tournaments (four $50,000 buy-in tournaments capped by a $100,000 freeze out finale) will win The Poker Masters Purple Jacket™.

Others at today's final table are Zach Clark, David Peters, Jake Schindler, and Justin Bonomo will also be present at the final table. When the players arrive at Noon, the action will resume on the money bubble with only six players getting paid. A min-cash will be worth $97,500 and the winner will be taking home $819,000.

The final table will be live-streamed on PokerGO starting at 12:30 p.m. local time, along with the coverage right here on PokerNews. The rest of the players will get a one-day break as the $100,000 freeze out finale kicks off on Monday at 2:00 p.m. PST.

Stay tuned!
