Queens for Luyckx, Lai Shoves on An
We caught a couple of interesting hands early on in level two, one of which was a big shove, but more on that later. In the first hand, it was Belgium’s Bart Luyckx in action in a four-way hand with a player in middle position opening for 400 and picking up two callers.
Luyckx made the call from the small blind and the flop fell . Luyckx checked to the raiser who continuation bet around ½ the pot for 800 with Luyckx the only caller.
The landed on the turn and now Luyckx decided to lead and fired out for 1,500, which his opponent called and the river came down the . That killed the action with neither player keen to bet and Luyckx rolled over , which was enough to take down the hand.
While this was going on a big pot was brewing between China’s Pmame An and Hong Kong’s Kwok Chun ‘Derx’ Lai and while we missed the early betting we arrived in time to see some fireworks on the turn.
There was already 4,000 in the pot with the board reading and An, sitting in middle position, had led out for over a pot-sized bet of 4,800 and had just been shoved on by Lai, who had moved all-in for 29,200.
That’s a big bet and An did not look particularly happy about it. Eventually, she declared the fold, opening for bottom two pair. Lai did not show and raked in the pot to climb to 39,000 while An finished with 26,200.
