The action is heating up during the 2023 Poker Dream Manila stop at the Newport World Resorts Integrated Resort in Metro Manila, right across the city's international airport and next to a lavish shopping mall. Only six players out of 41 entries return to the live-stream feature table for the grand finale of the "White Horse Cup" Short Deck Super High Roller Ante-Only, which features the most expensive tournament of the entire series worth PHP 1,300,000 ($25,321).

Having missed the guarantee by a single entry, the six contenders have already locked up a share of the PHP55,000,000 ($1,071,273) prize pool and the man in the driver's seat is Winfred Yu with 4,610,000. He is followed by fellow Hong Kong poker pro and WSOP bracelet winner Danny Tang (2,300,000).

The other four finalists all represent Malaysia, a country who has been responsible for the action-paced Short Deck variant to become popular all over the world after it was introduced to main stream poker via the Triton Poker high-stakes competitions. Triton co-founder Paul Phua is among the players still in the mix and returns in the middle of the pack with a stack of 1,315,000. He is joined by fellow countrymen Jun Wah Yap (1,860,000), Ming Hong Teoh (1,440,000) and Chen Ming Kong (775,000).
