Jason Fennel Wins $400 No-Limit Hold'em (CAD$13,641)
The PlayNow Championship Winnipeg $400 No-Limit Hold'em event drew a total of 148 entries and paid 15 spots. A min-cash was worth CAD$1,070 and there was CAD$15,014 up top for the winner. This year's turnout was a slight decrease from the 152 runners that played in 2018. Darren Penner was the winner in 2018 and took home CAD$11,821 after the final three players struck a deal.
The winner of this year's event, Jason Fennell, was on fire at the final table as he knocked out everyone that made the final five. Once he got heads up with Paul Esposti they made a deal that they would each take home CAD$11,000 and play for the remaining $2,641 and the trophy. In the final hand, Fennell correctly called with ace-three suited when Esposti shoved queen-five offsuit on the button. The board ran out bricks and Fennell ended with all of the chips in play.
Esposti finished second in the event for CAD$11,000 which capped off a successful series for him. Esposti had a strong start to the series by coming in fourth place in the $600 Opening Event for CAD$8,576.
